Summer 2013 ~ London Outfit Post

Today I went off to London to have lunch with some friends so I thought I'd post my "London look" (hahaha pretend I didn't say that) I've just got some colour jeans on with a simple summer vest and slightly wedged ankle boots...

The vest is from Primark at just £4! (bank balance loved that) I LOVE it, going back to stock up on more I think, it's got a nice chiffon open back as well which makes it more feminine than a normal vest and subtly shows off a bit of skin too!

Jeans are from Topshop at £38 these ones are a purple/pink colour and they go with nearly every top I own! Topshop jeans are amazing and so comfy!

Wedge shoes from New Look at £14.99, they're so comfy and the heel isn't too high so it's perfect for me seeing as I'm not really a heels kinda girl!

Just a collage of photos :)

Hope everyone's enjoying their summer!

Bathtime Delights!

For most of us ladies (or men) during the week there isn't enough time in the day to have a nice long relaxing bath! Whenever there is a chance I like to use my favorite pampering products and light a candle or something and just relax!
Here are my favorite items I'm using at the moment (and loving!)

(left: Air Wick Reed Diffuser in Pink Sweet Pea  centre: Treacle Moon ~ my coconut island right: Treacle Moon ~ that vanilla moment)

That Vanilla Moment by Treacle Moon

'That Vanilla Moment' by Treacle Moon is a lovely bath and shower gel, it smells AMAZING (a bit like those murray mints) and is a great cleansing product for a lovely relaxing bath!

My Coconut Island by Treacle Moon
'My Coconut Island' by Treacle Moon is a gorgeous body scrub it smells sooo good while softly scrubbing unwanted skin away and leaving it soft and smooth, perfect for legs and arms! Another must for a pamper bath!

What are your favorite pamper products?
Happy Relaxing!

Mumma's Rock Cakes

My mum is a chef and is always cooking the yummiest food, since I was younger I've always loved helping her out in the kitchen, so I thought I'd bake some cakes with her and do a step by step post on her recipe! Here we go...

Ingredients:

8oz/225g Self Raising Flour
1tsp Baking Powder
4oz/110g Soft Butter
2oz/55g Caster Sugar
6oz/110g Mixed Fruit
1 Medium Egg
1-3 tbsp Milk
1tsp Mixed Spice

First of all pre-heat your oven to 200C.

STEP 1:

Place the Self Raising Flour into a large mixing bowl and add 1tsp of Baking Powder and 1tsp of Mixed Spice.

STEP 2:

Add 4oz of Soft Butter to the mix and get those hands in and gently break up the pieces until the mixture is breadcrumb-like.

STEP 3:

Create a hole in the middle of the mixture.

Then add the Mixed Fruit into the middle, then add the Caster Sugar, Eggs and Milk.

Mix until it becomes a dough.

STEP 4:

Grease the baking trays then create rough rock cake shapes, they don't have to look perfect at all!
Place them on the baking tray.

STEP 5:

Place them in the oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown depending on the oven type.

STEP 6:

When they are ready take them out, place them on a rack and leave to cool for a few minutes and they're ready to eat!
ENJOY!!

 How yummy do these look?!!

Let me know if you try these out? Happy baking! :)

DIY ~ Dyeing Jeans

My fav pair of jeans from boohoo (boohoo.com) are great but, they have got a tad warn out and the navy colour just doesn't suit anything I wear. I'm forever searching for the perfect pair of black jeans but have never had any luck, so I thought of the idea of dyeing my jeans and looked into it, I found a great product that dyes denim so I had to try it out;

Dylon Wash & Dye

(I put on some rubber gloves before handling anything, this is recommended.)
I firstly emptied the contents of my Dylon Wash & Dye in Velvet Black into the drum of my washing machine and added my jeans in with no other item, (just the jeans for maximum results). I then put the machine temperature to 40c and put it on a standard cotton wash through the whole cycle.

After this was over, which was about 1 hour later, I added some normal washing detergent to the washing machine and put it through another cotton wash cycle. This allows the machine to be cleaned from the dye and to get any access dye off of the jeans.

When this was finally done I took them out and left them to dry naturally. I was kind of hoping for the worst seeing as trusting myself to pull something like this off is minimal but they turned out pretty good!
I highly recommend this product if you are searching to revive your old jeans!

Before                                                                         After

(You can notice the change in colour and no more fading on the knee area, its just like a brand new pair of jeans!)

New Avon Matte Lipstick!

In my recent Avon catalog I noticed there was a new Matte Lipstick, had to try it because I'm partial to trying out a new lippy and Avon products are great. I love matte lipsticks cause they're usually just one plain colour (which I like) and not silly sparkles attached to it (sorry glitter I just don't get along with you and your sparkles on my face).
I got this lipstick in the colour 'Matte Crimson' which is the type of red/plum colour, I really like this type of colour. It's a great little lipstick to pop in your handbag and it lasts for ages which is great, of course you're going to have to re-apply but it is long lasting. I can't see anything wrong with this product and I'd certainly recommend this!

You can get Avon products including matte lipsticks from Avon catalogs or online!

Outfit Post ~ Spring Is Here! (well..kinda)

So I noticed the sun had decided to finally pop out and I thought I'd take the opportunity to get a bit excited about not having to walk around in big winter coats and freezing my hands off every morning while waiting for the bus to college! I know we probably won't be having good enough weather for summer stuff
anytime soon but we can dream aye!

I put together a quick little outfit to wear in the warmer days and can even be worn for a party or something! It's pretty casual but it's got a bit of an edge to it, I'd probably wear this for an occasion like a summer gathering with friends rather than everyday wear, or if the weathers nice I might do.
(Now if you knew me you'd know I'm not really a one to follow trends or fashion to be honest, I'm just your typical student that walks around in t-shirts and trainers so I'm no fashion expert so don't judge I just thought this would be a really cool outfit to share, haha.)

Top ~ This is just a simple black high neck crop top from New Look, I've checked the website and they no longer have this certain one in stock but they do have others of the same style like it!

Shorts
~ These are a simple patterned blue, white, grey and black colour shorts from River Island.
I bought them in the winter sale so they're not in stock anymore, but they have similar shorts in a high waist style.

Shoes
~ I'm a sneaker kinda girl and Converse are one of my FAV types of shoes ever, I practically live in them and wear them with everything! These are classic black low tops that I think work well with the kinda rock chic jacket! You can get them from loads of different shoe stores but I got mine from Schuh!

Jacket
~ Now I got this jacket for Christmas so I'm not too sure where it's from but you can find leather-look jackets like these anywhere these days, I know Missguided do really nice biker jackets similar to these at a really good price!..
So this is just a plain black faux leather jacket. I think the jacket just completes the look otherwise it looks a bit bland without it, it gives it the grunge look edge which I really like. I think this kind of jacket is great for spring when its not really warm enough to go bare-armed.

I'd also mostly wear this outfit with plain black tights just to cover up a bit because I'd probably feel more comfortable, so if you're also uncertain on getting those pins out in shorts stick on some tights to feel less 'exposed'! :)

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed!

Grunge-Look Lipstick

I love experimenting with new lipsticks and my favourite lipsticks are the Rimmel Kate Range
I love dark colours but I'm not really daring enough to try a black lipstick. I came across this beautiful purple colour that I instantly wanted to own. I'm loving plum type colours at the moment so I thought this was great! It's very pigmented and lasts for ages!

It is however very dark and nearly black when you wear it alone, so I'm not too confident to wear it on it's own for an everyday look, but to tone it down a bit a lovely berry colour worn underneath makes it less harsh and still sticks with a grungy/vampy look! It's great for anyone that can pull this look off!

Rimmel products are available online or in store at any Boots, Superdrug or any other drugstore. Also may be available at selected supermarkets!

Current Everyday Go-to Items

Thought I'd share my go-to everyday make-up items! With a few added springy hints!

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara

Seeing as I don't like to cake too much make-up on I like to take advantage of my long eyelashes and make them the staple for my everyday look. I naturally have very long thick black eyelashes and I am always searching for that perfect mascara to last me throughout long days, seeing as my eyelashes are so long some mascaras can weigh them down and I just lose my curl so a good mascara is essential for me! The Rimmel mascaras I've used in the past have been heavy and clumpy on my lashes, but this is very light and lengthens them well and stays put all day which is GREAT!
I LOVE this mascara at the moment and I wouldn't go anywhere without it.
Available from Superdrug, Boots and all other drugstores/supermarkets
£5.99 at Superdrug right now!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

This foundation certainly does what it says on the bottle! It has shimmery glow particles that reflect the light to give you a dewy fresh look but not too harsh for everyday use, its a liquid foundation which also gives you a hint of moisture so it's great for me as I have sensitive skin! Probably a bit to dewy for a greasy skin type though.
I think this is a great foundation as I do have to chose carefully for my skin type, it hides my imperfections and it's also perfect for the natural everyday look I go for! The colour I use is Classic Beige, it blends perfectly with my skin tone and gives me a great healthy colour.

Available from Superdrug, Boots and all other drugstore/supermarkets
£8.99 at Superdrug and Boots

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

I thought about looking into using a pressed powder to set my foundation to last longer and I heard a lot of good things about this one. It's very light on the skin and doesn't make it look cakey over the foundation so I thought it was great!
I don't really see it as an essential though at the moment as my foundation seems to stay on throughout the day on its own but its great for a quick touch up during the day and it's perfect to build up a bit more coverage on the face and also to get that matte look! This will also be great for when the days are hotter (if we ever get any) to keep everything in place.

Available from Superdrug, Boots and all other drugstore/supermarkets
£3.99 at Superdrug

MUA Bronzer

Now I love MUA products (as you may find out), the prices are awesome and the products are great!
I was quickly looking for a replacement bronzer one day as I left without one so I just picked up the cheapest best looking colour and I've loved it every since! It's a great colour not too overpowering, has a subtle shimmer and gives you a natural glow which I love!

Available from Superdrug for JUST £1!

MUA Lipstick in shade 11 (a coral, peach colour)

Seeing as it's technically spring (I know, it still feels like winter) I thought I'd add a lovely spring coral lipstick to my everyday look.
Finding these amazing cheaply priced lipsticks was like a miracle to me, I'm such a lipstick person and I'm always looking for new colours to try out! I own a lot of these MUA lipsticks as the price is great and it's actually pretty good quality considering, it's a creamy consistency and it does last quite a while!

Available from Superdrug for JUST £1!

Avon Nailwear Pro in coral beat

To carry on with the spring coral look, I've gone for a coral nail varnish from Avon.
I LOVE these Avon nail varnishes and have huge amounts of different shades! They're easy to apply and have a polished finish that lasts for ages and doesn't chip easily so it's great.

Available from Avon

and last but not least...

Vaseline Lip Therapy

Vaseline is always always always in my bag, wouldn't go anywhere without it, it keeps my lips soft and moisturized  and is just great for everyday use.

Available from Superdrug, Boots and all other drugstore/supermarkets at £1.99

Skincare Products I Can't Live Without!

5 Skincare Products I cannot live without

1. Simple Moisturizing Facewash - I have sensitive skin so a good facewash like this keeps my skin fresh and healthy and doesn't lead me to breakouts.

2. Simple Purifying Lotion - I love this more than anything. I simply use this to cleanse with a cotton pad, its a lotion so it puts the moisture back into my skin and cleans it so well.

3. Nivea Soft - I've tried a lot of different expensive moisturizers for my face just because I thought the more I spend the better it would be for my sensitive skin, but that wasn't really the case. My trusty Nivea soft does everything I need, keeps my skin baby soft, isn't oily and doesn't react badly to my skin. I use it on my body too!

4. Vaseline Lip Therapy - I'm obsessed with lip balms and lipsticks! I own so many lip products, but my one lip product I couldn't live without has to be my little Vaseline tin, I keep them in my bag, pockets, everywhere and they're good for any other skin nightmares on the go!

5. Bio oil - Lastly bio oil! Yep, younger people use it too! Its great for dry skin, uneven skin tone and scars. I have a few scars that I use this on, one of my big ones are hardly noticeable anymore as I've been using it for a while. It's great to give your skin a nice glow too, and even as an aftersun type oil in those summer days!

A little ramble..

Basically in life, whenever I'm feeling down or just in general, I remind myself there's other people in this world that have it a LOT worse than me and that the silly things I worry about are nothing in comparison.
Considering this, I'm very thankful to be alive and well and to embrace the fact I'm here on this earth, I never take the things I have for granted at all and just try not to let the little things get to me, because other people have much bigger worries.
I have a lot of things in life to be happy about and I try to enjoy it. It bugs me that it still doesn't stop me being a bit miserable, as much as I like to say I'm loving life, I'm not at my happiest, which sucks.
It's like a puzzle and there's just that one little piece missing, I don't know what it is or when it's going to come along and make it complete, but I sure hope I find it soon.

Over thinker

I thought I'd just write this to get a bit off my chest;

I'm one of the many people that over think, sometimes I get scared, worried and occasional paranoia which really does bug me! I wish I could be more laid back with situations that get thrown at me.
Lately I've been over thinking a bit too much, to the point where I'm crying over things I'm trying to get out of my head, like thinking about things I could have done better, things I shouldn't have, and that's just not helping me go a day without thinking about things I probably shouldn't be wasting my thoughts on.

I never really thought that I could actually feel this low within myself as I do right now, I'm generally a happy and positive person, but hiding behind the smiles gets the best of everyone in the end.

After some of the things I've been through a few years back, I would never have thought little things would bug me to this point, I guess losing people hits you harder than you expect....

my best friend!

Thought I'd dedicate this post to my awesome best friend Sarah...

When I first started college back in 2011, I was a week late to start in our course, so missing the first week I missed out on bonding and meeting everyone beforehand, I was the new shy girl and knew nobody, so I didn't know what to expect.
I started out pretty quiet and kept myself to myself, which, if you know me is pretty hard to believe!
I also wasn't very happy in my course when I first started, but my tutor mentioned me and one of the girls in class may have similar styles in music so we may get along. When we finally got the chance to speak, we instantly clicked in general, liked the same things and most importantly liked the same music!
Soon enough we became best buddies ever since, we're like sisters, we annoy each other and have little arguments now and again, but nothing life threatening.
I couldn't imagine life without my best friend now, and I don't think we ever intend in losing touch (we pinky promised soo :P)
We do get accused of being inseparable, but we probably are, so who cares!
We've only been friends for nearly two years but we always say it seems like we've known each other forever! In the short time we've known each other we've been through quite a lot and had moments that we'll never forget, I've had a few downs and she's always been there for me to defend me and pick up the pieces.

So I thought I'd write this just to basically say, THANK YOU to my amazing best friend/sister for putting up with me and my funny ways! I have the best big sister anyone could ask for!
And that's the end of my major soppyness..

xo

hello 2013!

2012 was a memorable year to say the least....
It had it's amazing moments that'll stay with me forever! I had an awesome holiday back to Thailand, started my second year studying music and met incredible people that I hope won't be leaving my life anytime soon.
But also some awful moments, such as the loss of my beautiful nana in November of whom I was very close to, that was an incredibly tough time that we are all still suffering from.
I've entered 2013 missing a lot of people that were and still are important people in my life.
But I have high hopes for the year ahead! Happy New Year!! :)
